Why should you exercise?

Exercising is important in daily life to ensure a fit and healthy body. It helps in elevating your energy, removing stress and even elevating your mood. For women, it can be one of the best things to do when trying to conceive a baby as it improves fertility and also helps in carrying out a pleasant pregnancy where one won’t feel constantly worn out or sore.

Is exercising good or bad for fertility?

Exercising can be both good and bad for fertility in women and here’s how.

How can it be good for fertility?

If you’re constantly lying down or not moving around much, you can gain weight which can affect both your health and fertility. Gaining weight can increase the levels of estrogen in your body and it also affects your insulin levels. That is why exercising is necessary before conception to ensure the right hormonal balances and to be free from any problems during pregnancy which would be otherwise present if you have an unfit body.

How can it be bad for fertility?

While exercising helps fertility by making you healthy, excessive exercising has been proven to cause infertility in women. By doing excessive exercise, your body undergoes heavy stress during workouts which in turn discourages fertility. When you are doing excessive exercises, you are constantly pushing the limits of your body and in turn elevating your adrenal hormones which produce a series of events that in turn inhibits your fertility. That’s why a decrease in fertility is often found in people who work out without a break and are constantly pushing their limits.

Then what exercises are considered healthy for fertility?

As exercising is a good thing, it is also important for you to listen to your body and the level of stress you’re putting on it. If you’re doing high intensity workouts, then you might want to prevent that if you’re trying to have a baby as it will work against fertility. You should go for moderate workout regimes and it’s good to break a sweat and get moving but you need to know when to stop. Exercising 5 times a week is the average good to go period for ensuring a good health and fertility.

Some of the exercises which are beneficial for your health and fertility are –

Moderate cardio –

These include walking, dancing, cycling, swimming and other exercises which ensure a good level of sweat and stress for a healthy body. If you’re not doing any exercises then it is beneficial that you start doing these exercises to maintain a healthy life.

It provides a ton of benefits such as lowering your blood pressure, glucose, removing stress as well as keeping your weight under control.
