Complementary Therapies to Boost Fertility

March 15, 2018

Studies show that one-third of all couples experience problems when trying to have a baby. Fertility has become an issue these days due to various factors but there are different methods through which fertility can be boosted. These are called complementary therapies and range from acupuncture to homoeopathy to nutrition. These therapies may not necessarily cure infertility, but these can encourage conception as your body becomes more balanced and stress-free.

Homoeopathy

Made from plants, animals and minerals, homoeopathic remedies are very diluted, in powder form or tablets. These remedies work like vaccines, by kickstarting the body’s defence against the problem. Since these remedies are highly diluted, there are no side effects. Homoeopathic remedies can help solve many fertility problems such as PCOS, blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis and so on. Practitioners also claim that a woman’s fertility problem can be aided by giving her the same hormone that is causing the problem in the first place. Studies have shown this complementary therapy to be effective in improving fertility.

Acupuncture

In this type of complementary therapy, several needles are inserted into the body where the energy channels are located. This therapy works on the basis that problems or diseases in the body occur when there is an imbalance in the natural energies of the body.

In the therapy, fresh blood flow is encouraged to these specific points that influence the reproductive organs such as the uterus, the fallopian tubes and the ovaries. By this, the body’s balance is restored and ovulation is stimulated, which aids fertility in women. Studies have shown that acupuncture can lead to a rise in the level of progesterone – a hormone that is required for conception. Acupuncture for men can improve the quality of their sperm, improving fertility.
