Fertility Treatments

Infertile couples have a lot of treatment options available. With the advancement in medical science & technology, the number of Infertility Treatments is growing rapidly. The exact treatment depends on the gender, cause of Infertility & health condition of the individual.

When a couple is infertile, doctors perform multiple tests on both partners to determine who is infertile. Generally, it’s one of them who is infertile, while in some cases, both of them are infertile.

Depending on the test results, doctors plan further treatment.

Who qualifies for Male Fertility Treatment?

Any one of the partners, either male or female, who has been diagnosed with Infertility qualifies for Infertility Treatment.

Fertility Treatment for Males

In some cases, male Infertility can be reversed by performing certain surgeries or medication. The exact treatment depends on the cause of Infertility.

The core goal of these treatments is either to restart the production of sperm if it has stopped or to remove the blockage in the path of sperm (if there's any). Here are some common Infertility Treatments for Males:

a.       Medication & Hormone Therapy: In cases when there is a problem with some Hormones that are impacting sperm production, some hormone therapies can help. Sometimes, medications too can restart the sperm-production & treat Infertility.

b.      Therapies for Sexual Intercourse: A lot of couples struggle with sexual intercourse problems. These problems include erectile dysfunction or early ejaculation. Proper therapies can help address these issues & improve fertility in men.

c.       Medication for Infection: In some cases, males have Infertility due to an infection in the body. Treating this infection with proper medication can help restore fertility.

d.      Surgery: Surgery is an alternative in cases where the path of sperm is obstructed. This happens particularly if the patient is suffering from Varicocele or has a blocked Vas Deference. Surgery can help eliminate this blockage, restores the flow of sperm & removes fertility.

If you are a male & have been diagnosed with Infertility, there is no need to be disheartened. Male fertility can be reversed in most cases, and you can become a father! At Apollo Fertility, we have helped numerous patients regain their fertility with specific treatments.

Infertility Treatments for Female

There are two treatment options available for female Infertility. The treatment depends on the age of the female, the cause of Infertility & personal choice. It's very important to note that female infertility treatments require patience & commitment.

The prime goal of these treatments is to restore fertility via medication or surgery.

a.       Medication: Fertility Drugs are used to restore fertility in females via medication. These fertility drugs work like follicle-stimulating hormones or luteinising hormones that start the ovulation process. There are numerous fertility drugs that a doctor prescribes to you after a thorough examination.

b.      Surgery: If the medications don’t work, your doctor might recommend surgery. These surgeries focus on correcting uterine anatomy problems and removing endometrial polyps or adhesions.

In rare cases, the doctor might also have to perform Tubal Surgery if your fallopian tubules are filled with fluid.

Risks & complications

Like all treatments, Female Infertility Treatment carries some risks. The most common risks are:

·       Risk of Ovarian tumours in the later life

·       Possibility of twins or triplets

·       Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Syndrome (OHSS)

Reproductive Assistance Methods

If the doctors cannot restore fertility in the couples with the treatments mentioned above, there are a few other Reproductive Assitance Methods too. E.g.

·       Intrauterine insemination (IUI):

Under this procedure, the doctor inserts millions of sperm in the uterus to successfully fertilise the egg.

·       Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ARTs):

It's the procedure of fusing sperm & eggs artificially. This procedure is useful when the sperm count, sperm health & egg health is alright, but a female faces problem in getting pregnant.

·       Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI):

In this procedure, a single sperm is injected into the egg outside the uterus & then the embryo is transferred into the uterus.
